Hall Chadwick was proud to recently co-deliver the Indigenous Business Masterclass Series, a collaborative initiative with NAB aimed at fostering growth and long-term success for Aboriginal-led businesses.
Across three engaging sessions, more than 25 Aboriginal business owners and representatives came together to explore practical and strategic insights essential to growing and sustaining successful enterprises.
Hall Chadwick’s Megan Hueppauff, Manager – Corporate Services, played a key role in delivering the series, presenting a large majority of the content and contributing to an engaging and constructive environment throughout. She was joined by Ashley Little, Consultant – Strategic Advisor, who led the initiative from the Hall Chadwick side. Drawing on his long-standing experience working alongside Aboriginal organisations, Ashley helped shape a program grounded in the real-world context of First Nations businesses.
The Masterclass series explored focus areas shaped by the interests and priorities of participating business owners, including:
- Business Fundamentals – Covering the essentials of starting and operating a business, with practical tips for effective day-to-day management.
- Business Financials – Providing clarity around financial responsibilities, accounting practices, and what it takes to maintain financial health.
- Legal Structures – Exploring different legal structures and how to choose the right one based on business goals and circumstances.
The sessions also featured expert insights from NAB representatives, underscoring the importance of sound banking practices and financial management in business success.
A memorable part of the final session was a visit from Justin Mohamed, Ambassador for First Nations People at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. His reflections on the growing presence of Indigenous businesses in national and international markets offered a meaningful close to the series and reinforced the strength and momentum within the First Nations business sector.
What’s Next?
While this initial series has wrapped up, the overwhelmingly positive response has led to an extension of the program, with future sessions planned to cover new topics and emerging areas of interest. These upcoming sessions may include a broader mix of presenters, and we look forward to sharing more details in due course.
This has been a rewarding initiative, one that has delivered genuine value to participants while reinforcing Hall Chadwick’s ongoing commitment to walking alongside Aboriginal businesses as they grow and thrive.
