Exploring Djarindjin and the Djarindjin Airport

The trip began with a Monday morning flight into Broome, followed by a brief stop at All Oz Freight. From there, the team travelled to Djarindjin, where they met with Nathan McIvor, CEO of the Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation (DAC) and General Manager of Djarindjin Airport Pty Ltd (DAPL). Nathan provided a comprehensive overview of the community’s operations and outlined promising growth opportunities on the horizon.

Early Tuesday morning, the team had the privilege of visiting Djarindjin Airport. Nathan offered a behind-the-scenes look at the airport’s daily operations—from coordinating arrivals and departures to overseeing the refuelling process. The visit highlighted the professionalism, safety, and efficiency that DAPL is known for. That evening, the team attended the DAPL Board meeting, gaining further insight into the airport’s strategic priorities and long-term vision.

Strengthening Relationships with Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation

On Wednesday, the team participated in the DAC Board meeting, gaining a deeper understanding of the impactful, community-led initiatives currently underway. It also served as a key opportunity to present a finance report, offering insights and guidance to support DAC’s financial sustainability and ongoing projects.

A standout moment from the day was visiting the DAC campground. Nestled in a peaceful, natural setting, the campground offers a serene escape—truly a hidden gem for travellers seeking a quiet retreat in the region.

The Road to Sustainable Growth

The primary objective of the trip was to gain a holistic understanding of DAC’s operations, from the community store and roadhouse to its larger-scale business ventures. Through meetings, stakeholder engagement, and strategic discussions, the Hall Chadwick WA team provided tailored consulting support.

A key focus was DAC’s 20-Year Strategic Plan, which outlines ambitious initiatives such as expanding the airport and campground. These plans aim to deliver lasting economic and social benefits for the Djarindjin community and ensure growth aligns with long-term aspirations.

At Hall Chadwick, we’re passionate about supporting communities as they evolve and thrive. Our partnership with DAC and DAPL enables us to help craft sustainable, community-focused solutions that drive success—both commercially and socially. Whether it’s delivering financial insights or offering strategic guidance, we’re proud to contribute to projects that make a meaningful difference.
