Members of our Consulting team recently travelled to Fitzroy Crossing in Western Australia's Kimberley region to work alongside Gooniyandi Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) on its future strategic direction. Led by Ashley Little, alongside Lucas Johns, the visit brought together GAC Board members and Cultural Advisors for a collaborative strategic planning workshop focused on the Corporation's current position, future aspirations and long-term priorities.

Shaping a Shared Vision for the Future

Over two days, the workshop provided an opportunity for the Board and Cultural Advisors to reflect on the Corporation's progress, explore emerging opportunities and identify the goals and initiatives that will help guide its next chapter. Discussions focused on understanding the needs and aspirations of the Gooniyandi community, while considering practical steps towards a strong and sustainable future. The workshop formed an important part of the strategic planning process, bringing together local knowledge, community perspectives and structured planning to help establish a clear direction for future action.

Turning Conversations into Action

Following the workshop, Ash has been working to translate these discussions into a draft Strategic Planning document for the Corporation's consideration. The document will bring together the priorities and proposed initiatives identified throughout the workshop, providing a foundation for further discussion, refinement and future planning. This collaborative approach reflects the importance of ensuring that strategic direction is informed by the people, knowledge and aspirations of the community it is intended to support.

Consulting Beyond the Office

For Hall Chadwick, engagements like this highlight the value of practical, relationship-focused consulting. With extensive experience across the not-for-profit sector, Aboriginal businesses and community organisations, Ash brings a strong understanding of the importance of aligning strategic planning with the unique needs and priorities of each organisation. Working directly with the Gooniyandi Board and Cultural Advisors provided an opportunity to support meaningful conversations and contribute to a planning process centred on the Corporation's long-term aspirations.
